Playlist Memorabilia

Product Design
November 2020 Spotify

This personal three day design sprint in an attempt to add a “memory” feature on Spotify’s personalized playlist. This product is aimed to advocate for self collaboration, curation, and customization by sharing real-life experiences and store them as sweet nostalgic memories in a song.

I developed this feature hoping to alleviate existential isolation symptoms by inducing nostalgia of shared “we” experiences.

BACKGROUND

Spotify proudly prioritizes personalization. However, with research into the product, company, privatization ethics, and the users, I discovered Spotify should prioritize customized playlist over Spotify generated personalized playlist.

FINAL PRODUCT

After personally suffering from existential isolation during quarantine, I found solace in sharing playlists and Spotify’s “Group Session” feature with loved ones. I developed this feature hoping to alleviate existential isolation symptoms by inducing nostalgia of shared “we” experiences.

This project was made with love for couples in long distance relationships, lone-wolves living in a city 2,000 miles away from friends, and desperately homesick nomads.
